Roger Gorley was arrested at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday after he refused to leave the bedside of his sick partner Allen, WDAF reports: He says when he got there, a member of Allen’s family asked him to leave. When Gorley refused, he says hospital security forcibly removed him from the property and put him in handcuffs. “I was not recognized as being the husband, I wasn’t recognized as being the partner,” Gorley said. While not legally recognized as a couple in Missouri, Gorley says he and his partner Allen have been in a civil union for nearly five years, and make medical decisions for each other. He says the nurse refused to verify they also share joint Power of Attorney. “She didn’t even bother to go look it up to check into it,” Gorley said. “He’s been at the psychiatric unit part several times.” The hospital released this statement, saying it does not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation: We believe involving the family is an important part of the patient care process. And, the patient`s needs are always our first priority. When anyone becomes disruptive to providing the necessary patient care, we involve our security team to help calm the situation and to protect our patients and staff. If the situation continues to escalate, we have no choice but to request police assistance.

People Like You
People Like YouBreathe deep and let it go
All the hurt and all the sorrow
At the time you thought you knew
The answers to questions as you grew
Many years have come and gone
Many tears have come along
You wondered why they hurt you so
You cried and cried and tried to let go
Your heart is true
Your heart is you
Many times you thought it would never end
Better to die than to live this trend
Someone like you will come along
Someone like you who sings your song
You never could hear
The beautiful words
The melody you make is really so clear
And now you see
You're not alone
They took your hand and lead you home
A new place
It's not the same
A new place
Without the shame
Now you will shine with breath anew
Your world is full of people like you

American Academy of Pediatrics announcement
American Academy of Pediatrics announces that children are better off in a same-sex couple relationship than a single parent relationship
"... the new statement, released Thursday, is the first to formally address civil marriage, as well as adoption and foster rights for same-sex couples. It supports marriage equality for all consenting adults as a way of providing long-term security and benefits for their children, as well as full adoption rights for single parents, co-parents adopting together or a parent adopting when their partner is already a legal parent, regardless of sexual orientation. The policy also states that sexual orientation is not a factor in providing foster care."

Can you believe this from the Osmonds?
Marie Osmond has a lesbian daughter and here is a snippet of her comments regarding LGBT and gay rights:
Said Osmond: "You know, I think each of us has the right to choose who makes that medical decision for us, I think everybody should have the right to share homes and finances with somebody that they care about. You know on those types of things I'm very supportive. When it comes to marriage, ... I think that civil rights need to be for all. When you start mixing religion into that and beliefs, you know, I do believe in the Bible. My daughter understands my beliefs. And, and, uh, you know, God said to be married and be productive with your children and, and, you know, replenish the earth or whatever. She understands those things. My daughter is sharp. And we have a great relationship and I think she would tell you that." Read more: www.towleroad.com
